Our identity is essentially who we are at our core – and this is a much bigger conversation than you may think.
If somebody asks you “Who are you?” or “What is your identity?” you give the best answer you can with the knowledge that you have at the time. It’s your best projection of self: who you think you are, which, incidentally, can be very different from how other people see you.
Those projections of self are derived from the combination of our physical appearance and our mind: how we feel and what we believe about ourselves at that particular point in time.
We know that our bodies change over time – as do our minds and beliefs, therefore, any answer that we give on our identity is transient, and, over time, those answers may change quite significantly. The answer we give is the best we can do in that moment.
The real conversation is that there is much more to us than just our minds and there’s much more to us than just our physical bodies.
It’s really about why we are here and who we are as we are here on the planet.
Almost all of humanity believes that there is something greater than ourselves – an essence greater than this physical sack of skin that we live in during our journey.
We refer to this essence as spirit. And when you have the perspective of a greater essence then it’s easy to suppose that there’s a reason why spirit has inhabited this body at this particular point in time. This is the real conversation of identity: Who we’ve chosen to be.
In our true alignment with spirit this is an innate understanding but our bodies and minds can often get in the way. Our mind is like a Google Translate for spirit – it tries to interpret what spirit is conveying and communicates that with our body. The aim is for a much better Google Translate. The way to do this is to open and expand our mind to have those interesting downloads or intuitive connections – to really understand our identity.
Doing this, quite quickly you may find that your identity may be quite different to who you think you are or who you thought you were, or even who your friends think you are. And that you are actually a much greater identity than who you thought you ever would be.
This aligned spiritual connection that allows you to open your mind expansively also allows your body to transform, often quite quickly, into who you truly are so you can step forward in your journey. When we truly understand who we are at a much larger level of consciousness then our body follows suit.
When we look at soul mechanics, spirit is the messenger for your soul and the driving force behind the inhabitation of a physical body. This essentially forms the nature of your human identity, and the keys to your spiritual purpose lay embedded within your physical vessel.
